RHETT THE DOG ~ 2007

He keeps showing me himself looking at his reflection.
The reflection is probably the glass cooker and the patio doors which he sees himself in and often growls at.
He talks to me of ‘a dog on the way’ & with this I get excitement & that it’ll be ‘nice to have someone to play with’.
He certainly will have a playmate soon and I am thrilled that he's looking forward to it.
Rhett says that you are ‘meant to be together’. When asked why he says that it’s to ‘bring you a gift like you have given me’. He tells me that you have felt a bit isolated in the past & that he’s come into your life in order for you to ‘regain your zest for life’. You helped him & he is helping you.
Rhett's gift is priceless to me and he has been the companion who has brought me out into nature.
He loves being out & about with you as he likes being part of a partnership & enjoys having a good sniff at who & what’s been about on the route beforehand. Rhett tells me to let you know that ‘with love comes respect & that’s what I’ve been blessed to be given by you’.
I'm so glad he feels respected and loved. I have always tried to maintain his sense of dignity as a dog and a hunter/provider and guardian. I don't baby him and love to watch him sort out his interactions with dogs, people etc without interfering too much and he certainly loves to sniff!
Who’s commented on Rhett being ‘very fox-like’?
I am the one who said he is very fox like, I hope he approves!

Rhett mentions that ‘I can bark a lot’!
Up until Rhett came to live with us he was never heard to bark at the rescue, but he's making up for it now!
I have some sensitivity on the left ear & I feel it may have been irritated at some stage.
Recently he did have a problem with his left ear. He had to go to vets to have a grass seed removed and I had to put lotion inside the ear for a while.
Behind his right ear is itching now but I feel it’s somewhere he likes to have a good scratch!
I have noticed him scratching around his right ear as well.
Rhett now loves anywhere that he can ‘snuggle down’ & rest his head on soft things. When I ask him what makes him happy he keeps showing me the image of a home with ‘comfort & somewhere I can keep warm’.
I love the fact that Rhett enjoys being at home and somewhere to keep warm. We bought him a fleece blanket, and before we go to bed we wrap him up in the blanket so that he feels warm and secure. He seems to love this and he settles very well as a result.
When it comes to water Rhett doesn’t like to go into anything too deep as ‘you never know what might be lurking in there’!
He definitely doesn't like going into deep water, you’re absolutely right.
He prefers to be on a level where he can see everything & anything that is going on around him, as he keeps giving me the strong image of himself looking down at things from a height.
I've also noticed that he will climb any mound that he can. He does like height & one of his favourite spots is at the top of the stairs.
