BERTIE THE HORSE ~ 2007

Sadly, he underlines the words ‘Commodity & Dispensable’ to me – that he was simply viewed like an item that could be traded & as ‘unessential’ to his previous owner. Time, dedication & energy was sadly lacking in this home for him.
I know for a fact that I am Bertie’s 4th Owner, maybe even 5th in his short life. I know that his last owner didn’t have much to do with him and looking at his passport he has changed hands 3 times in the last 12 months.
I feel that he has much more of an expanse area-wise where he is & in what he sees now than previously, which he likes.
Bertie was kept in small, steep, boggy field before I got him with little or no shelter. There was no stimulation as it was down a quiet country road. Now he lives on a yard of 25 horses. The yard is always busy with something going on as it is a riding school and competition yard.
Bertie tells me that he loathes anything to do with needles & injections. He will need reassurance with anything involving needles & I also feel that you’re a bit like this too.
I have an acute phobia of needles and can’t hold him for the vet.
He hates the feeling of being ‘penned in’ – he prefers being out in open spaces where he can see what is going on.
Although he likes being in his stable I can’t tie him up in there as he panics. However I have made progress being able to tie him up outside in the tie up area which is quite big.
Bertie shows me himself charging across a field & doing big leaps in the air, which he thinks is great fun.
That’s exactly what he does when going out in the field with his friends.
I have a bit of discomfort across the forehead. Now this usually ties in with tension & this may relate to either Bertie or someone around him who suffers from tension headaches.
He doesn’t like his head being touched in that area. I also suffer from a lot of headaches.
Keep an eye on his lower back as I feel that it he has a sensitivity here, so just to be aware of it when breaking in etc.
I have a friend who does horse massage. She also said he was tight in that area which was strange for his age as he is not doing any work yet.
I’m getting a funny sensation on the top left hand side of his head & feel that he likes being tickled here as it an itchy spot!
That’s his favourite spot. In fact I was rubbing there when you were talking to him.
I can see a small dog that trots around a yard.
The yard does have 4 Jack Russell Dogs – 1 of which is outside all the time.
Bertie shows me his name on a small plaque being put on something. If you haven’t already done this, can you do so please as it brings him a lot of happiness.
I have been thinking of getting a name plate for his door, so I will do this very soon.
He shows me that his mane has been tugged & that
‘Someone has had disrespect for it’.
I have tried to pull his mane. He does not like this and I have had to leave it for the time being.
~ “Thank you very much for the communication you did on Bertie. Many thanks for all your help – I am extremely grateful.”
